COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

The course intends to answer four major questions: How do people learn? Why do people learn? Where does Egypt stand on the global education map? And what can we do about it? The course will focus on pedagogy, assessment and policy issues in Egypt. Students will be encouraged to analyze each topic critically while reflecting on the Egyptian context and their own learning journeys. Students will be engaged in field visits to different schools, education-related NGOs and governmental institutions. The course will be projects-based where students put their acquired knowledge to practice. Topics covered include: learning theories and education philosophy, education policy, education reform, the role of civil society and private companies.
